Orphan Care
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” James 1:27
We are passionate about the children in our villages. The most vulnerable, the orphaned and abandoned, are of first importance. Imagine waking each day and not knowing if the place you are in is safe, loving, and trustworthy. We are not okay with this reality. Emmanne is committed to doing its part, currently we have children’s homes in two different counties in Kenya.
Emmanne Children’s Home
Located in Theri, Kenya
Emmanne Ministries began its work by reaching out to the ‘least of these,’ the orphans. We opened our children’s home in 2015 and have since built a home that can care for 24 children. The long-term goal is to love 48 children in two homes in Theri.
A home for boys and girls, we have partnered with local leaders to rescue kids from deplorable situations and bring them into a haven of support and care. We keep our homes small, so each child feels welcomed and a part of a family.
Mwangaza (Light) House -
Located in Oloitokitok, Kenya
Emmanne Ministries opened this home in 2022 to care for the most vulnerable girls in the Maasai culture. These girls, as young as 2 years old, are often treated as ‘property’ and end up the 2nd, 3rd or 4th wife, expected to bear children as soon as possible, and relegated to home and family duties. Educationally, 9 out of 10 girls in this region do not make it to 9th grade.
Their lives are not their own.
Their dreams are never realized.
Orphaned girls are even more vulnerable. Distant relatives discard these girls.
We want to bring hope.
Mwangaza House is a haven for orphaned and abandoned girls. We have created a safe, loving, Christ-centered home where education is paramount, and living into God’s potential is realized.
Someday, these girls will return to their villages- educated, driven, focused, and filled with the hope of Jesus. They will bring great pride to their culture, and we believe, will be change agents for the next generations of girls thereafter.
There is a great calling in looking after orphans. Join us in extending love to this vulnerable group of children.
We have built our philosophy around the United Nations’ Rights of the Child:
